Self Paced Education with Army Correspondence Courses

The army does not punch a time clock. A soldier may have to do his job from morning to evening one week and the reverse in the following week. There may be several days where they are off base, out in the field doing special training missions. He may have to work all night and then sleep the next day to be ready to do it again the next night. At a traditional college situation, the schedule is set by professors and administrators. There might be some classes that are only available for certain periods of day or on certain days of the week. And in most cases, those days are just not going to be convenient for the soldier.

The army correspondence course allows the soldier to get the education that will help him throughout his career as well as help him when it is time to transition to civilian life. Because it is self paced, he will not feel overwhelmed during the more intense times of his army training and can double up when he has the time to do so. The courses are accessible to him every single day of the week during every hour so even if he is stuck on overnight guard duty, he can continue the path of his education when he actually has the time to do so without having to go from duty directly to class.

Another advantage is the ability to do the courses from wherever he is in the country or even overseas. In a traditional school, an army transfer can mean that the education will be cut short- even if it is not completed. Credits can transfer from one school to another in some situations, but not in all of them. To transfer, the course must be completed and graded, so if the soldier is sent somewhere with three quarters of his course work finished, he might lose all of that time and effort.

Army Correspondence Course Helps Transitioning to the Civilian Life

As a soldier, you are trained to do a specific job. For most soldiers, the job that they choose is the one that they intend to do for their entire working life, even after the army career has ended. While it is possible to change jobs in the army, it is not always that easy to do, so it is important to choose wisely.

In the civilian world, the experience learned in the army, both from the military training as well as from the army correspondence courses, will give the solider an edge because in addition to the specialized training for that career, he will have leadership and other skills that make him valuable. They will also have special experience that cannot be obtained in other ways- earned over a career that can be as long as 20 to 30 years. That experience, education and skills makes the retired soldier an asset to any company in virtually any position.
